    Description

This is a 1956 telephone directory from Kurt's hometown of Aberdeen-Hoquiam (it's two small towns that adjoin). In it are two Cobains: Leland, who was Kurt's grandfather; and Ernest, who would have been Kurt's great-uncle. I'm including a 2010 feature article about Leland from the Seattle Weekly newspaper; his 2013 obituary; and a family tree. "Ernie" is mentioned in the obituary but I'm not sure who that would have been on the family tree. For those not familiar with the old phone books, the front included all the townsfolk, listed in alphabetical order, while the back half (the "Yellow Pages") showed all the businesses in town -- lots of great advertising to give you a flavor of the area about 11 years before Kurt was born! Size is 9 3/4" x 6" x about 3/8" thick.
